The 2026–2027 General Update (GENUP) is the North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s annual 4-hour Update course for brokers who are not Brokers-in-Charge or BIC-Eligible.
This year’s course focuses on current issues affecting North Carolina real estate practice, including changes in the appraisal process, frequently asked brokerage questions, fake-seller fraud, fair housing, recent law and Commission rule changes, and licensing and education updates.
Unlike an elective course that may remain the same from year to year, the General Update is newly developed by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission each license year to address current law and rule changes, areas of disciplinary concern, and evolving brokerage practices.
Completion of this course satisfies the 4-hour NCREC Update requirement for the 2026–2027 license year for brokers who are required to take GENUP.
