North Carolina Real Estate Postlicensing

Getting your North Carolina real estate license is only the beginning of your education. Newly licensed North Carolina brokers receive their licenses on Provisional Broker status and must complete the North Carolina Real Estate Commission's required Postlicensing education to remove the provisional status.

The North Carolina Postlicensing program consists of three 30-hour courses for a total of 90 hours of education. Trav Talks offers all three courses with both Live Online and Self-Paced learning options.

When Must I Complete North Carolina Postlicensing?

Provisional Brokers who wish to maintain their license on Active status must complete the Postlicensing requirement within the first 18 months after license issuance.

If a Provisional Broker does not complete the Postlicensing requirement within the first 18 months of licensure, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission will place the broker's license on Inactive status.

Because the full Postlicensing program consists of three separate 30-hour courses, we recommend planning ahead rather than waiting until the end of the 18-month period to complete all 90 hours.

Live Online Postlicensing

Self-Paced Postlicensing

Self-Paced Postlicensing allows you to complete each course on your own schedule through the Trav Talks learning management system, using recorded instruction, activities and course materials. The course builds on concepts introduced in Prelicensing and examines legal, regulatory and brokerage issues that North Carolina brokers may encounter in real-world practice. Topics include commercial real estate brokerage, residential property management, land use controls, loan fraud, brokerage compensation issues, license law and case studies, fair housing issues and case studies, establishing a brokerage firm, manufactured and modular homes, short sales, and other legal and regulatory issues affecting real estate brokerage. This Live Online course is taught through Zoom by an experienced North Carolina real estate instructor. Students participate in scheduled classes, ask questions in real time and work through practical applications of legal and regulatory concepts with the instructor and other brokers. Provisional Brokers who wish to maintain their North Carolina real estate license on Active status must complete all 90 hours of required Postlicensing education within the first 18 months after license issuance.
